Montreal

Just thought I'd post a couple of interesting photos from my trip to Montreal for passover.

First - this is an interesting photo, taken from my airplane as I was waiting to leave Zurich. I don't believe I have seen police escort tanks of this variety around any other kind of airplane. Sad that this is the reality of our times.

Here is a pretty aerial shot of the approach to Montreal (unfortunately I was not on the side of the plane that had the view of Mount Royal).

Next, evidence of the snowstorm that came after passover and dumped 10cm of snow on the city. Temperatures during the week started at a balmy 7C, then dipped to -9C with the wind by the end of the week. When will spring finally arrive??

Finally, this is a photo of one part of my "kosher" meal on Swiss air. Can anyone explain to me why ordering a kosher meal DURING passover does not necessarily imply that you will receive a meal that is kosher FOR passover? On this tray you will see a challah roll, smoked salmon atop a slice of bread, and another roll in the corner.

The second tray (the warm meal) that came with it was salmon and rice. This lack of passover food has also happened to me on United a few years ago, but I dismissed it since it was right at the start of passover and maybe they had not yet received any special meals. Needless to say I was not pleased. Sad, considering the food on Swiss is generally quite good!

Back in Copenhagen today, I went to a lovely brunch at DN's. She prepared delicious passover food, and it was nice to come back to a group of friends to ward off the loneliness of leaving family behind in Canada...
And, yes, it's raining in Copenhagen. Some things never change!

That anecdote about Passover food is amusing...but at least I (like many Iraqis and others) could have had the rice :-)
