Boston-Montreal, Rosh Hashana 5768!

Hi all!
Shana tova!
I'm a bit behind, but am determined to catch up on recent events.

A couple of weeks ago, I flew to Boston to work at the office and also to continue the green card saga. This time, the officer was very friendly and knowledgeable, my file was actually there (from Vermont), and I got my stamp for another year! It was remarkably painless.

Thursday evening, Jonathan finally arrived! We spent the weekend doing the tourist thing. It was extremely hot and sticky, but we did alot of walking around the city, including MIT, Newbury Street, Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, Davis Square and Harvard Square. Jonathan's photos are all here, but I'll include some below:

Here is a photo of the Ray Stata building at MIT, designed by Frank Gheary.

And here is a photo of us taking a break in the shade near Harvard Square.

Other highlights included watching a friend's band play at a transvestite club, visiting friends and their babies, and sitting on a quiet pier at night overlooking the skyline.

One thing we both noticed was how rushed the lifestyle was, compared to Montreal and what I have become accustomed to here in Copenhagen. It could be the places we chose, but the restaurants seemed to want to quickly turn over the tables which made dinners and brunch seem rather stressful. But anyway.

Sunday, we drove up to North Hatley and enjoyed some quality time with Jonathan's mom. Despite the rain, it was nice to sit out on the porch bundled in blankets and chat. After a delicious dinner, we drove (with Kilo, the dog who was not very pleased to be relegated to the floor of the passenger seat) to Montreal, stopped off at my parents', then settled in at Monkland. The week zoomed by, filled with appointments, visits with friends and family, and finally Rosh Hashana! Wednesday night I experienced my first Rosh Hashana seder, with the full meal of sephardi delicacies! The synagogue was interesting; I was one of maybe 6 women, and I also experienced my first 'auction' for aliyahs! Thursday morning we went to the Shaar with dad and granny, and Friday night was my family's dinner. Here are some photos from the dinner (again, the rest are on the site linked above:

The week was far too short, and after experiencing a moon-set (I was not aware that the moon actually sets so early in the night!) and a 2-hour flight delay, we said a teary goodbye at Trudeau airport.
