Tivoli

Tivoli Gardens opened in 1843 and is Copenhagen's best place for amusement (many roller coasters and other carnival-esque rides) and open-air concerts.

Friday night I was invited to a classical concert featuring opera and the symphony. A friend of mine is the rehearsal pianist for the opera so we got in for free. The concert was very enjoyable. Afterwards, we were lucky enough that the Pet Shop Boys were playing a free show outside! Two free concerts for the price of... none! The crowd probably numbered around 5000 people and the atmosphere was hard to describe... the grounds are very beautiful, and it was a cool night, near perfect. They played their famous hits (the lead vocalist does sound exactly the same as he does in recordings) and it was great for my love of 80s music. Maybe this photo captures some of the magic...
